Breaking News: Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) to Reopen This Month!

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have announced the much-awaited reopening of the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) this month. Invitations to potential sponsors will soon be sent out.

What to Expect: Starting May 21st, 2024, IRCC will issue 35,700 invitations and aim to approve 20,500 complete applications.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates from the 2020 intake of the PGP will be invited to this round and selected through a lottery system. Invitations will be emailed to sponsors on their interest to sponsor form. Check your emails starting May 21st!

How to Obtain Permanent Residence through PGP:

  1. Ensure you meet all eligibility criteria.
  2. Complete an interest to sponsor form on IRCC’s website.
  3. Await an invitation (ITA) via email after the lottery reopens.
  4. Submit your application through the Permanent Residence Portal by the stated deadline.

About the Program: The PGP allows Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for Canadian PR, fostering family reunification.
