Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have announced the much-awaited reopening of the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) this month. Invitations to potential sponsors will soon be sent out.
What to Expect: Starting May 21st, 2024, IRCC will issue 35,700 invitations and aim to approve 20,500 complete applications.
Eligibility Criteria: Candidates from the 2020 intake of the PGP will be invited to this round and selected through a lottery system. Invitations will be emailed to sponsors on their interest to sponsor form. Check your emails starting May 21st!
How to Obtain Permanent Residence through PGP:
- Ensure you meet all eligibility criteria.
- Complete an interest to sponsor form on IRCC’s website.
- Await an invitation (ITA) via email after the lottery reopens.
- Submit your application through the Permanent Residence Portal by the stated deadline.
About the Program: The PGP allows Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for Canadian PR, fostering family reunification.
